Egmont Key State Park

A photo taken as we were leaving Egmont Key State Park in Florida. We spent a day at this National Wildlife Refuge during our honeymoon.

According to the Fish & Wildlife Service of Florida, this island “provides important habitat for nesting sea turtles, gopher tortoises, over 30,000 nesting pairs of birds, and other wildlife.” While on the island, we spotted several turtles, birds, and gun battery ruins during our walking adventure on the island.

This small island is only accessible by private boat and does not allow overnight visitors. There’s an old lighthouse (seen in the main photo) on this island as well, you can read a lot about it here.
