Once a year I get the chance to see my teammates in-person somewhere in the word (ok, I also see them at the Grand Meetup, but that’s different!). This year our team chose to visit Playa del Carmen (Mexico) for a week. Although hot and humid, it was beautiful and a very relaxing and enjoyable trip.
“Places” – nature and otherwise
I’ve never seen such beautiful beaches (even with the pesky seaweed). But even the beautiful beaches of Playa del Carmen can’t compare to the absolute wonder and beauty of the Hubiku Cenote. On our last night in Playa del Carmen we visited Alux (pronounced “Ah-loosh”), a fine dining experience in a cave. It was quite the experience, especially the tour we took after dinner.
People – my teammates
My teammates are awesome! They were troopers through all of the heat and humidity and we had a great time exploring not only Playa del Carmen but also Chichén Itzá, Ek’Balam, the Hubiku Cenote, and some even perused Cozumel island on our free day!
Food – the Pièce de résistance
I actually thought I had taken more photos of the delicious food… but you get the gist of it. Plenty of sangria, tortillas (flour of course), and fajita veggies.
Although the pictures don’t show… we did work for a good portion of this trip. Wifi wasn’t a natural commodity of Mexico we found, but that didn’t stop us from hanging out in coffee shops, gelato shops, and straight up chocolate shops for our ticket and chat ours. But that just doesn’t make for as good of photos 😉
